| Description | Off the coast of the Shimokita peninsula at the entrance of Mutsu Bay, are the sea cliffs of Hotokegaura. Visitors can take a sightseeing boat to visit the bright, white cliffs. The contrasting color of the cliffs with the colors of the trees, sky, and sea make for stunning photos. Paths allow visitors to view the green volcanic tuff formations safely. The Hotokegaura is also part of the folk religion pilgrimage route to Mount Osore, where a Buddhist temple is believed to be located next to the gate to the underworld. Hotokegaura is an amazing place to visit for adventure and nature enthusiasts. |
