About Aomori

Aomori, the northernmost prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu, is a photographer’s dream filled with diverse and beautiful landscapes.

From volcanic mountain ranges to distinct coastlines and lakes there is an abundance of scenic destinations. Tourists regularly visit for the famous hot spring villages, mountain hiking paths, and some of Japan’s most highly sought skiing resorts. Aomori, the capital, rests in the northern part of the prefecture and serves as port city and the home of the iconic Nebuta festival and museum.
