Hirosaki Castle

RegionHirosaki
DescriptionOriginally built in 1611, then rebuilt in 1810, Hirosaki Castle is one of Japan’s few remaining castles that hasn’t been rebuilt in the modern era. In fact, it is the only castle in the Tohoku area to possess that status. In this image, it is at a different location than usual, as renovations are underway to strengthen the base upon which the castle typically sits. It is scheduled to return to its regular location in 2021.”
